Sometimes a fresh start requires a turning point. One turning point might be the decision to confirm your faith..
What is confirmation?
Jesus says 'follow me' and when we do he makes us his disciples. Confirmation marks the turning point in the spiritual journey when you turn to Christ by choosing to become a disciple of Jesus. This affirmation is then confirmed in a public way through prayer and the laying on of hands by the Bishop. If you have not already been baptized, this may happen at the same time. The Church will help to prepare and pray that God would give you power through the Holy Spirit to enable you to live in the way of Jesus. It doesn't matter how old you are. You might be 10 or 110; Confirmation is for everyone.
How do I prepare?
Preparation sessions will be arranged individually because every person comes with different life experience and background. You may be asked to attend a course or to read a book to help you prepare for your Confirmation. You will want to grow in your understanding of the Christian faith so the church will arrange for you to do this.
Chatteris usually presents a group of people to the Bishop for Confirmation every spring for a service at Pentecost. If you would like to join in, please get in touch with a member of the ministry team.
We look forward to hearing from you.
